An Inferior Interpretation of the 23rd Psalm

I have interpreted the 23rd Psalm. It is, of course, inferior to the original, but I do think it's not a bad modern interpretation.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my guide, guardian, and companion; all my needs shall be supplied.

2. He gives me time to catch my breath, time to relax, and space to collect myself and get grounded.

3. He quiets the roaring inside me, easing the turmoil I so often feel. His example of living in love, with compassion for all, is one I strive to follow.

4. Though I walk the canyons of unknown cities, imagining all manner of ill that may or may not exist, I will not fear the people around me, for they are also Your people. You are beside me all along the path, Your words and Your ways lifting me up and supporting me.

5. You provide me with food and drink, all my favorite meals and treats, while around me are those who hate me and wish me ill. Grant me the courage and mercy to share my table with those who despise me, as well as all who are themselves despised.

6. Always, the Lord's home shall be open to me. My room there shall not be a guest room, but a haven, a room of my own. The Lord's love and compassion shall enfold me and everyone, forever.
